According to CNN : Saturday, March 26, 2005 Posted: 11:14 PM EST (0414 GMT)After Florida's high court Saturday night rejected Terri Schiavo's parents' emergency petition to have her feeding tube reconnected, the family lawyer said the legal fight to prolong the 41-year-old woman's life is drawing to an end. A spokesman described her family as being grief-stricken that she is dying. This hot-button issue is only the ripple in the tides that is sending many to find out about what they need to do now. A living will; hence the living part. People need to make decisions now about what they would like done if the unthinkable were to happen. Websites geared toward living wills are getting hits surpassing other issues. People want to know more and they should know more.
Terri will not die in vain, she will have made a difference without ever speaking a word. My opinion on whether or not she should die does not matter. What does matter I believe is the quality of life issue. If I were Terri, I would want to die, but in the state that she has been in, I would not be able to tell anyone. What an awful place to be.
How does that saying go, "Life is for the living".
